The Vision Behind Iron Horse Dressage
Iron Horse Dressage, LLC, is a world-class equestrian facility meticulously designed and built by Wendy McKelvy, AIA. Wendy’s personal dedication to dressage provides her with a unique understanding of the needs of the modern dressage rider, making her exceptionally qualified to create a facility that caters to every requirement.
Previously, Wendy successfully designed, built, and managed a leading dressage facility in Colorado. A significant factor in its success was her collaboration with the trainers of Westmanton Stables: Grant and Sharon Schneidman, and Nicole Glusenkamp, all USDF Gold Medalists. Iron Horse Farms, located in Elizabeth, CO, quickly established itself as a premier dressage center, earning a reputation among its clients as a highly respected institution. The exceptional training and horse care provided by Westmanton Stables resulted in a waiting list from the facility’s inception.
Premier Dressage Facility
A career opportunity necessitated a move to the Boston area. Finding no comparable facility locally, Wendy made the decision to sell Iron Horse Farms and develop a new facility based on the successful Colorado model. Fortunately, Grant, Sharon, and Nicole agreed to continue their partnership and relocate.
In the fall of 2018, ground was broken on Iron Horse Dressage, LLC. It opened its doors in the spring of 2020 and offers services unmatched in Massachusetts. Combining a state-of-the-art environment with the exceptional training and horse care of Westmanton Stables, Iron Horse Dressage stands as the premier dressage facility in New England.
Iron Horse Dressage continues to expand its facilities and operations, with the opening of its outdoor arena and the launch of a breeding program. The breeding program, started by Wendy in 2024, welcomed its first foal, IHD Feine Savannah, in March 2025.
